Natasha K. Hirt
Hi — I’m a PhD candidate in MIT’s Building Technology department working under Dr. Caitlin Mueller in the Digital Structures research group. I’m interested in a wide range of things, but largely identify as an applied computer scientist.
My research objective is to design and build agentic systems that can help engineers, architects, and other stakeholders navigate, optimize, and evolve the vast decision space of structural engineering. Under the status quo, it takes weeks to turn an architectural design into KPIs (cost, material quantity, embodied carbon impact). Our goal is to shorten that feedback loop, make it interactive, and improve the efficiency of the built environment by empowering stakeholders to make data-driven decisions about their structures.
